The mission of the Harbor Police Academy is to educate our officers on the ever changing City, State and Federal Laws pertaining to policing. To update our officers on the philosophies and techniques on policing throughout the world and to ensure our officers maintain their yearly certifications. To educate and train new police recruits in the field of law enforcement. To ensure that they meet the Department’s highest levels of professionalism and meet the requirements of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement’s Police Officers Standards and Training. This will ensure that the Port of New Orleans and the maritime community is protected and served by POST certified law enforcement agents.
